Romania’s top football coach Mircea Lucescu has been officially announced as the new president of FC Dynamo Kyiv.
The terms of the contract were not reported according to the team’s official website. Which marks the star coach’s return to Ukraine after a four-year intermission.
“I hope Dynamo Kyiv ‘s winning traditions will be rekindled with the arrival of his coaching staff, that he will win more championships, and that the fans will judge Mircea with their performances. Good luck, good luck to him! I’m going to help him with everything I can,” club president Ihor Surkis said.
From 2004 to 2016, Lucescu was in charge of Dynamo’s most-principled foe FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
Following that he played for the Russian Zenit St. Petersburg National Team and Turkey. Dynamo boss Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko had previously been fired after a disappointing season.
