After sustaining a hit to the head on Napoli duties, Victor Osimhen was scheduled to spend the night in the hospital. On Sunday, after being taken off on a stretcher following a hit to the head in the team’s 4-2 Serie A loss to Atalanta, Napoli forward Victor Osimhen underwent hospital tests.
In the closing moments of the game, Osimhen collided with Atalanta’s Cristian Romero and dropped to the turf, with reports in Italy claiming he then lost consciousness on the pitch.
Osimhen, a former Lille star and Nigerian international, was taken away by ambulance and was scheduled to spend the night in a hospital in Bergamo.
Napoli said that only the 22-year-old had experienced “head trauma” that involved testing to decide whether any harm had occurred.
In a statement, Napoli said: “The player will remain in Bergamo until tomorrow [Monday] under the clinical observation of the [Napoli] health manager Raffaele Canonico.”
When he arrived from Ligue 1 outfit Lille last July, Osimhen became Napoli’s record signing, joining in a €70 million deal.
