Just one day after the same trick for Real Madrid was tried and failed by Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema, Neymar managed to help Mauro Icardi from the penalty spot, as PSG thrashed Belgian minnows Waasland-Beveren in a friendly way.
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is bidding to keep his men fit ahead of their next month’s Champions League campaign and his men have shown no signs of rustiness in attack as they put the visitors who play their second-tier football in Belgium seven past.
Predictably, after Kylian Mbappe whipped in a threatening cross, the reigning French champions took the lead in the 21st minute when defender Aleksandar Vukotic turned his net.
Only seven minutes later, PSG doubled their lead from the penalty spot when Neymar easily rolled the ball from the penalty spot into the net, throwing off the keeper with his stutter-step signature run-up.
This time Neymar unselfishly rolled the ball off to his right though to take the ball and smash it into the net for an oncoming Icardi. The pair managed to pull off the bold move under 24 hours after Real Madrid’s Ramos and Benzema tried the same trick but failed. Afterward, Kylian Mbappe added a fourth for PSG with a man advantage to put the game out of sight.
Maxim Choupo-Moting grabbed a brace after getting on to make it 6-0 in 90 minutes, with another 30 minutes left to play. One more goal has been added in the last 30 minutes to make it emphatic 7-0 after 120 minutes.
Just like their clash with Le Harve, PSG played with their friendly thousands of fans in the Parc des Princes, with cameras showing a lack of social space between some groups of fans.
