Mauricio Pochettino, the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, says Neymar is making good strides in his recovery from an adductor injury.
Since suffering the injury in PSG’s Coupe de France win away at Caen on February 10, the Brazil international has been out of action.
His return schedule placed him on track to play in the second leg of his Champions League last-16 tie against his former club Barcelona on March 10, with PSG leading the tie 4-1.
Pochettino gave an upbeat update on Neymar’s condition following PSG’s 1-0 win over Bordeaux on Wednesday.
“Tomorrow, we will review the players and the possibility that we can recover a few players, that is what we will do,” he said at a press conference.
“We will assess the players tomorrow, and the fact that we can recover a few players, that would be a positive thing for the match on Saturday [against Brest in the Coupe de France],” he said at a press conference.
“Neymar’s development is positive. We’ll evaluate in the coming days to see if he’ll be able.”
PSG is only two points behind Lille at the top of Ligue 1, with the Dogues scoring twice in stoppage time to defeat Marseille 2-0 and keep their lead.
“I believe we got off to a good start in the game. We played well in the first half “Pochettino added. “Bordeaux accelerated the speed of play in the second half, and we experienced some setbacks before regaining control. We did a good job defending, and I’m pleased with the team’s results.
“We know we have ten games left and that if we win them all in confrontations, we will be champions.
“I’ve known you have to be careful for as long as I’ve been in the company.”
