After two tough seasons for Monaco Niko Kovac is looking to take the team to the top. Niko Kovac is ready to take Monaco back to the top of Ligue 1 after their struggles in the last seasons.
Last week Kovac succeeded Robert Moreno as coach after Monaco finished ninth in Ligue 1 in 2019-20. Kovac, who’s an ex-Bayern Munich, said he wanted to put Monaco to the top.
“It was a shock, it went quickly and that’s why I’m mainly speaking in English and not in French,” he said at a press conference.
“The reason for this is very straightforward. AS Monaco is a big club with a long reputation and hasn’t been as competitive as they want here in the last few years. Our job, our goal, is to send AS Monaco back to the top of Ligue 1. The Croatian said on 23 August he would have to change his approach against Monaco, which is scheduled to open their campaign against Reims in Ligue 1.
“Every trainer has his philosophy, his theory of football. I have previously worked or operated with teams such as Eintracht Frankfurt or Bayern Munich. It’s one particular style in Frankfurt, another band in Munich. We need to adjust, we need to see, we need to take a situation or squad review, so we can choose the right approaches we think will help the team,” Kovac said.
