Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Edinson Cavani is back in training ahead of Wednesday’s match against Crystal Palace, but Paul Pogba will not fly to South London.

Following their 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, United is second in the Premier League table and has gone 20 games without losing on the road.

After a 0-0 draw in the second leg of their Europa League tie against Real Sociedad, Solskjaer’s side has now drawn two consecutive 0-0 draws, despite winning the away leg 4-0.

And it appears that they will be able to welcome Cavani back into the team after the Uruguayan striker missed the previous match.

“Edi practiced this morning, and hopefully there will be no reaction,” Solskjaer said.

“There are a couple of knocks from after the [Chelsea] game and from the season’s wear and tear that we need to look at. We had a light training session and we appear to be in good condition. While there are some worries for tomorrow, Edinson has practiced, which is a positive sign. Let’s hope there’s no retribution, and that he’ll be able to travel with the team.”

However, Solskjaer has announced that he will be without Phil Jones and Paul Pogba on Roy Hodgson’s side.

“With Phil, he’s working incredibly hard, he’s had several setbacks, and it’s the sort of injury that you have to be vigilant,” added Solskjaer.

“I’m not sure… how long is a piece of rope? I know a lot about knee injuries, so I’m not sure… how long is a piece of rope? We’ll give him all the time we have. Paul isn’t ready for us yet,” says the narrator.

“He’s getting stronger, but he hasn’t practiced with the squad yet, so he won’t be going down to London.”
