Boss Pep Guardiola warned that Sergio Aguero would show that he deserves a new contract in Manchester City.
Aguero returned after a four-month absence due to a knee injury, as City secured a 1-0 home victory at Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.
And City Manager Guardiola told Aguero to win a new contract at the Premier League club.
“Sergio now has to prove, like anyone of us, that he deserves to stay here – keep playing well, score goals and win games – and then the club and I will determine,” Guardiola told Goal reporters.
“But if he plays at his standard, we have no doubts that he will remain a player until he decides because he is special. It’s important to us, to our fans, and everyone. But he’s been out for four months and he’s got to start playing daily and start scoring goals – that’s the most important thing.”
