Napoli will host Juventus on Saturday in the weekend’s biggest fixture. In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Bianconeri manager Andrea Pirlo gave some updates on the physical conditions of some of his players, while also reserving words of sympathy for his friend Gennaro Gattuso, whose position in Naples is currently at risk following a series of negative outcomes.
“Similar to the Italian Super Cup match, this match will be important to everyone. This fixture is always a great show, and since the stakes will be high, I expect to see some tension.
Arthur has this calcification, which must be monitored every day. As mentioned by Calciomercato.com, the pain is disturbing him, and so his condition needs to be evaluated over time,” said the Juventus tactician.
The state of Dybala will still be assessed, and the pain in his knee will continue, so it will depend on how he feels tomorrow.
As for Bonucci, yeah, he’s going to train with us, he’s a little tired, and we’ll see if we can take him to Naples on a trip with us. The same applies to Ramsey. ”
McKennie is doing fine, and he wasn’t 100 percent the other night, either, because he had a hip problem, but it’s not a significant one. “We need to assess the strength of those who have been playing regularly over the past few weeks,” the former Milan midfielder added.
“Morata feels stronger. He’s been recovering from the flu. From the outset, he can start or make a second-half appearance. At this point, we don’t have many choices.’
Here’s what Pirlo had to say about the Scudetto race and his former teammate Gattuso.
“We concentrate on ourselves and the teams ahead of us. Our target for tomorrow is not to remove Napoli from the Scudetto race, but to win all three points. It can always happen that the possibility of sacking is part of our role as managers. But we just have to concentrate on doing our best, because all the matches are significant. I’m sorry for the situation with (Rino) Gattuso, but I have enough of my problems to worry about,” Pirlo concluded.
