Dani Ceballos defended Real Madrid against Gareth Bale, asking detractors of the Welshman to watch the 2018 Champions League final if they don’t like him anymore.

Bale has continued to be linked to a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, with Newcastle United being reportedly interested in being taken over by Premier League side.

Although Ceballos – on loan from Madrid at Arsenal – feels that Bale will fit the Premier League, in the 2018 Champions League final, he reminded critics of the exploits of the 30-year-old.

Bale came off the bench to score a brace in Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool in Kiev including a spectacular overhead kick.

“It’s a competition that will be pretty good for him but he’s a key player for Madrid,” Ceballos said Wednesday to Deportes Cuatro.

“Let us not forget what he’s offered the club. Whoever doesn’t trust him, put him on the final of the Champions League. He’s offered the Club plenty.”

After joining Madrid from Tottenham in 2013, Bale has won four Champions League trophies and one La Liga crown among several other honors.

Meanwhile, following his latest loan spell at Arsenal, Ceballos is still optimistic to be effective at Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old joined on a season-long loan to the Premier League side in July and made 24 appearances until the campaign was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Spain’s nine-time foreign deal until 2023 in Madrid and he is willing to take his chance with the giants of La Liga.

“I am satisfied to have a Real Madrid deal. I’m 23 years old, I haven’t passed the rice. I feel a lot more like a professional now and I’m ready for any obstacle that comes my way,” Ceballos said.

In July 2017 Ceballos joined Real Betis in Madrid for a record €18 million ($20 m) fee.

“I started practicing and changed my situation. I felt necessary in the last month and a half. I understood the interest in Valencia.”
