Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has spoken about how he was inspired by former team forwards Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I just really enjoyed watching them play. We used to go and watch matches at Old Trafford and I used to see them score and do fantastic stuff on the pitch. I’d go home afterward and watch videos of them playing on YouTube,” Rashford told Laurie Whitwell, The Athletic journalist.

“It was pure joy watching them while they were both at their best and playing alongside them. It is a pleasure to have the chance to learn from them, to watch them.

“You can borrow things from their game and try to bring them into your own, while still maintaining your style and characteristics on the pitch.”

“But yes, Ronaldo and Rooney have taught me a lot, of course.”

From 2004 to 2009, Ronaldo and Rooney played for Manchester United together.

This season, Rashford played 24 games in the EPL, scoring eight goals and six assists.
