The future of Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard remains unknown.
The club is disillusioned with the team’s performance this season, according to ESPN. Because over 220 million pounds were spent on refills in the summer transfer window, Chelsea expected a higher level of results.
That said, the Blues management recognizes the merits of Lampard, with whom, despite the transfer ban, the team finished in the top 4 last season.
The owner of Chelsea, Roman Abramovich, will make the final decision on the future of Lampard. His advisors are split about who should replace the Englishman in the role, as well as club director Marina Granovska.
Whether Lampard will be sacked during the season, or whether it will happen in the summer, has also not been determined yet.
It is suspected that either Abraham Grant, who has already worked with the club, or Andriy Shevchenko, a former Blues player who is in charge of the national team in Ukraine, could serve as head coach.
Massimiliano Allegri, Thomas Tuchel, Ralf Hasenhüttl or Julian Nagelsmann are likely to be invited if Lampard leaves the club in the summer.
In the EPL, Chelsea has won 2 of their last 7 matches. With 29 points after 19 matches, they are currently in 8th position in the EPL table.
