Agent Shkodran Mustafi has stated that he is in talks with Barcelona over Arsenal’s shock move.
This season, the German defender has found limited playing opportunities at the Emirates, with the arrival of Gabriel Magalhaes moving him further down the pecking order.
The 28-year-current old’s contract is due to expire in June, which has sparked rumors that when the transfer window opens, he could leave the club next month.
A return to Germany has been mooted, but recent speculation has also linked him to the Catalan giants after Gerard Pique’s injury.
So will that happen? The new remarks by Emre Ozturk suggest that that may be the case.
“I’m not in Barcelona because of Yusuf Demir, but because of Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi, whom we represent as well,” when journalist Fabian Zercher asked him about a recent Instagram post showing him at Nou Camp.
The possibility is that Barca club officials are looking for a pre-contract deal to negotiate next summer before a free transfer move, but if the price was correct, they could look to sign it in January.
On Wednesday night, Mustafi played the entire 90 minutes of Arsenal’s resounding 4-1 loss by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
