Thomas Tuchel is pleased with the success of Paris Saint-Germain through an injury crisis as they lost three more players in the victory over Rennes on Saturday.
Neymar, Mauro Icardi, Marco Verratti, and Julian Draxler were already absent from PSG and then they saw Idrissa Gueye, Thilo Kehrer, and Alessandro Florenzi all bow out at the Parc des Princes before half-time.
Angel Di Maria ensured a 3-0 win for the Ligue 1 champions, making the opener for Moise Kean and then adding a double himself.
For the league leaders and coach Tuchel going into the international break, the three points offered some respite, and the coach took the opportunity to defend his side’s display in a 2-1 reverse to RB Leipzig in the midweek Champions League.
He said to Canal+, “The result is better, but we didn’t play better than Wednesday.” We had a brilliant fight and the attitude was extraordinary.
“Despite the recent injuries, the guys have been great. I am very pleased and proud. It’s one of the best wins since I’ve been here.”
“On the most recent fitness losses of the squad, which saw Tuchel make two changes for the fifth time in Ligue 1 before the interval, the coach added:” It was too much before the game and it’s getting worse. We played with Kehrer, who was not ready for it. For [Leandro] Paredes and [Ander] Herrera, it was the same thing. It is like this.
As he scored with both of his shots on goal, Di Maria’s quality said, while creating three chances-more than any other PSG player.
Di Maria said, “We try to do the best we can, but it’s not easy.” “We can’t pretend that nothing has happened.”
