Timo Werner, Chelsea’s new signing, indicated that he was considering other offers, but he favored the Stamford Bridge uniform after a charm offensive by boss Frank Lampard.
“Indeed, before I decided to leave Leipzig, I think I spoke to several clubs, and I spoke to other clubs next to Chelsea,” Werner said at his press conference.”
“I don’t want to say too much about those clubs. There are of course many other clubs which have a great team like Liverpool. I might be able to excel in other teams, but I decided on Chelsea in the end because it was the best option I could make. Not just the form of football but what they taught me.”
“Yeah, it was a tough choice in the end, but I’m very inspired, optimistic, and pleased that I chose it. I’ve been here for maybe two months now, it’s feeling good, good and the team is brilliant. We have some very strong players, so calm and polite.”
“It’s fantastic to play at Chelsea, to be part of the team, and to be part of what we’re going to start here. We’re going to do well with that squad for the next few months and years.”
