Rangers have completed the signing of Mateusz Zukowski from Lechia Gdansk on a three-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee. The Polish international will be a back-up to James Tavernier subject to a work permit. The 20-year old won the Polish cup in 2019.
“I am delighted to join Rangers and to make this next step in my career,” Mateusz Zukowski said after completing his move. “I have been so impressed with everything I have seen and heard about Rangers and to join a club of this size is fantastic for me. I look forward to meeting my teammates and to making my debut in front of the supporters as soon as I can.”
“I am really pleased that we have been able to add Mateusz to our squad,” head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst said. “We knew when Nathan (Patterson) left at the start of the month that we would need cover in the right full-back area, and it is great we have been able to find someone of Mateusz’s quality. He will be able to learn so much from our captain and I hope to see him develop further as a player here at Rangers.”
“I am really pleased we have been able to get this deal done for Mateusz to join the club,” Sporting director Ross Wilson added. “Our scouts have been watching him closely for some time and identified him as someone who could come and impact our first-team squad.
