London (AFP) — Morgan Schneiderlin joined Everton’s Ligue 1 side Nice for an undisclosed fee announced on Tuesday by the Premier League club.

Capped 15 times by France, the 30-year-old midfielder scored once in 88 appearances for Everton after his 2017 move from Manchester United.

Schneiderlin has failed to replicate the form he showed at Manchester United or Everton for his first English club Southampton.

“Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has completed a transfer for an undisclosed fee to French club Nice,” read Everton’s statement.

Nice said the fee would be between € 2 million and € 4 million on their website and said his 200 plus Premier League games and his appearances for France at the 2014 World Cup and €2016 would bring them much-needed experience.

“It’s one thing to find a good player, but finding one with this kind of attitude is hard to do. He’ll be our big signing of the close season,” said Nice director Julien Fournier.

Nice is run by former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira and finished fifth in the 2019/20 Ligue 1.

The club is owned by British chemicals magnate Jim Ratcliffe who runs the company’s Ineos empire which sponsors the richest cycling team in the world.

Schneiderlin joined Everton from Manchester United in a £ 24 million deal ($30 million, €26.5 million) in January 2017 but was struggling for fitness, making just 18 appearances this season before sustaining a knee injury that needed surgery in February.
