Inter Milan is looking to finish the horror spell of Christian Eriksen by setting up a swap deal, according to rumors, involving Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira.
After signing a £ 25 million contract from Tottenham, there were plenty of hopes on Eriksen’s shoulders, but after struggling to adjust to the ideology of Antonio Conte, he struggled to live up to the hype at San Siro.
Meanwhile, after leaving Arsenal on loan for Spanish side Atletico Madrid, fellow midfielder Torreira has been searching for game time.
And Inter is now discussing a swap deal between Eriksen and Torreira, according to the Italian publication Tuttosport.
This will prove to be an ambitious deal given Dane’s rivalry with Arsenal from his time at Tottenham, for whom he played 305 times between 2013 and 2020.
The article argues that Inter is seeing Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic back up and is contemplating a move to the Gunners loanee.
But that may prove a tough deal to complete as Torreira, after failing to gain the confidence of Diego Simeone in the heart of Atletico’s midfield, will want regular game time.
In all competitions this season, Torreira made just 13 appearances for Simeone at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Following his lack of playing time at Atletico, Valencia has recently shown interest in Torreira, while the Uruguayan has also been connected with Fiorentina and Torino.
Meanwhile, at the San Siro, Eriksen is suffering his struggles, having fallen out of favor under Conte after scoring four goals and in his 40 appearances making just four assists.
International Denmark has not been able to adapt to Conte’s way of thought and his future seems short-lived at the San Siro.
Negotiations over the future swap deal between Inter and Arsenal officially have not yet begun.
