To sign Club Brugge winger Krepin Diatta, AS Monaco beat off competition from four Premier League clubs.
The Ligue 1 side is expected to announce the deal on Thursday, worth around £ 15m.
The signing of Diatta, who has scored 10 goals in 19 league matches this season, is a big coup for Monaco, who, after several difficult years, is challenging this campaign for European seats in Ligue 1.
Protracted talks were eventually concluded in the last 24 hours, with Monaco being able to secure payment terms for the highly-rated 21-year-old Senegalese international over a five-year duration.
Diatta began his professional career at Sarpsborg 08 on the Norweigan side but was there for less than a year before Brugge snapped up a four-year contract.
Diatta has made 10 appearances for Senegal and was named the Africa Cup of Nations Young Player of the Tournament in 2019.
The winter transfer window will be open until 11 pm on Monday, 1 February.
