UEFA will not investigate alleged racist abuse directed at Glen Kamara

The Finnish Football Federation revealed that UEFA will not investigate the incident where Glen Kamara allegedly was racially abused. The unknown Montenegro player is said to have targeted the Rangers midfielder with racial insults during Monday night’s Nations League game, according to a statement from the Finland FA. However, the midfielder has decided not to file an official complaint with UEFA.

“Immediately following the game against Montenegro, our team’s management and players voiced their opinions to the UEFA-appointed referee and the match representative,” a statement from the Finnish FA about Glen Kamara said. “The event that had sparked strong feelings after the game was put to rest when the match delegate and the referee told the Finnish team management that they were aware of it and taking it into consideration.”

“But it is clear from our Tuesday conversations with UEFA that the match delegate’s report won’t eventually lead to an investigation,” the statement added. “Before the investigation may begin, the player must confirm it; otherwise, they must let other players, officials, or referees know about the incident or provide their own affirmation in accordance with UEFA protocol. Glen Kamara declines to offer UEFA an official statement or make a comment about the situation. As a result, the allegation of racism does not initiate UEFA’s disciplinary process.”

The Finland international claimed that Kudela had made racist remarks to him in the closing seconds of Rangers’ Europa League match against Slavia Prague in March 2021. Kudela, who was penalized by UEFA with a 10-game suspension for “racist behavior,” has constantly denied the charges.
